Some dresses only have to work for one night. That night gets photographed from every angle, posted the same evening, and looked back on for years — so it has to be right the first time.
Beadwork and crystal are set by hand. It is slow, and it shows. Weight is placed where it will catch light as she moves rather than scattered evenly across the fabric, and necklines, backs and hems are cut knowing they’ll be looked at directly.
Because this work takes time, evening pieces are best started well ahead of the date. Fittings take place at the studio in Enugu, or virtually for clients outside Nigeria.
There is a difference between a dress that sparkles and a dress built to be looked at. One catches the eye. The other holds it.
